The Boy in the Armor

TO EMBRACE BEING

Born under a regime.

A childhood memory in charcoal.

An adolescent surrounded by motorcycles and Spanish mischief.

Romances in the summer nights.

The entrepreneur. The intellectual. The benchmark. The doctor. The clinical eye that measures with an iron rod.

Duty and living up to it. Social pressure. A studied life.

And suddenly, to understand that you’ve inhabited a body that isn’t yours. A parallel life. like recognizing a stranger in the mirror.

Can one dare to be?

Can someone shatter the armor they’ve been building their whole life?

This isn’t the story of a hero. But that of a child, who at 60 dares to look inward…

And whose only tool for speaking to oneself is painting.

                                                                                                                             Loyola

Who I Am?

Well, I am not sure about it, this is what had happened though,

From my childhood, I fell in love with art through my father, a mathematician who was also a painter. Influenced by Informalism—Spanish Abstract Expressionism—and artists like Antoni Tàpies and the El Paso group, he began to explore material expression.

At 21, I traveled to London to learn about the Conceptualist Movement from the Young British Artists, including Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, and Sarah Lucas.

Throughout my life, I alternated between practicing medicine as a surgeon and painting, working on commission in Europe.

I turned exclusively to art when I immigrated to the United States in 2016. I’ve lived in both Los Angeles, where I received university training, and South Florida, where I engage with the art scene in Miami.

My agent, my sweet and talented friend Eleni Cocordas with Agora Gallery, sadly passed away from COVID on May 1, 2021, in New York.

In the last four years, I have had two solo shows (New York at Agora Gallery and Cultural Council of West Palm Beach) and seven exhibitions (two in Miami at Art Basel, Art Expo New York, and four at 704 Gallery in Lake Worth).

My experiences as a physician and my intellectual evolution are clearly reflected in the different styles I have developed over time.

My intellectual approach to art has led me to explore various multi-dimensional topics, from socio-cultural behavior differences between men and women worldwide, to experimental works on quantum mechanics and the nature of reality, the new post-COVID changes in society and art, and recently, WaBO art, my own patent.

The aesthetic enjoyment of a Y Blue artwork is based on its ability to provoke the projection of the viewer’s emotions and feelings onto the piece. The viewer projects their own emotions onto the painting, enjoying “themselves” outside of “themselves.”
